Latam Export, held on April 3 in Rio de Janeiro, brought together experts and leaders from the port sector to discuss practical solutions and ways to decarbonize the maritime logistics chain. The second panel of the event, entitled “Effective Solutions to Achieve Carbon Zero 2030,” featured prominent professionals in the areas of innovation, sustainability, and the environment.

The panel was moderated by Juliane de Castro Carneiro, Innovation Coordinator at the Porto do Açu and Manager of Cais Açu Lab – Collective for Innovation and Sustainability, who contributed by mediating discussions on the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition in the port sector.

During the panel, initiatives related to the electrification of operations, the adoption of alternative fuels such as green hydrogen, logistics optimization through intelligent systems, and the importance of governance for meeting zero-carbon goals were discussed. Solutions such as the just-in-time model, already implemented in some Brazilian ports, which aims to reduce anchorage time and, consequently, emissions, were also highlighted.

In addition to moderator Juliane Carneiro, the panel included:

Luane Lemos Agostinho, Sustainability Manager at the Porto do Itaqui (MA);
Jussara Neto Mendes, Sustainability Director at PortGreen Consulting;
