Porto do Açu stands out with achievements in innovation and sustainability in 2024
Porto do Açu, through its innovation ecosystem, Cais Açu Lab, ends 2024 with important recognition on the national and international scene. In total, it received five awards, highlighting cases of digital transformation, open innovation strategies, and research and development (R&D) projects.
Among the awards won are:
- 1st place in Innovative Initiatives in the ANTAQ (National Waterway Transportation Agency) Award;
- Top 3 in Transportation and Logistics in the 100 Open Startups ranking;
- Top 3 in Valor Econômico Innovation with Prumo;
- Top 3 in the INOVATIVOS award, with the Digital Twins case, developed in partnership with PhDsoft, UMI SAN Hidrografia e Engenharia, and FINEP;
- Best Case at Hub Maritime & Port at Cubo Itaú, in collaboration with TideWise.
In addition, Cais Açu Lab presented impressive numbers throughout the year, with more than 100 initiatives carried out and almost 50 strategic partners, such as Galp and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The raising of millions of reais in development funds was an important milestone, with emphasis on projects developed in partnership with renowned institutions, such as the State University of Norte Fluminense (UENF), Fluminense Federal University (UFF), and Firjan SENAI. In addition to incredible initiatives, such as our Maritime & Port Hub at Cubo Itaú in partnership with Hidrovias do Brasil and Wilson Sons, which reinforce the role of the Port of Açu as a hub for innovation and sustainability.
The end of the year was crowned with the 2024 Protagonist of Innovation award, granted by ABGi Brasil in partnership with ANPEI. The recognition highlighted the Port of Açu’s performance in the category of promoting innovation, highlighting its coordination, strategic maturity, and networking in the execution of R&D&I projects. The award was received by Juliane Castro Carneiro, Innovation Coordinator at the Port of Açu, in the Protagonist in Promotion category, highlighting her leadership and contribution to the success of innovation initiatives.
These achievements reinforce the Port of Açu commitment to leading innovation and sustainability initiatives, consolidating its position as one of Brazil’s leading port-industry complexes and an example of transformation in the present and future.
