BlueRio presents results and reinforces Rio’s role in blue economy innovation

On February 25, we attended the BlueRio Program results presentation event at Palácio Guanabara, representing Cais Açu Lab and Porto do Açu.

For the second consecutive edition, we closely followed an initiative that goes far beyond metrics—what truly stands out is the strength of the connections between people and institutions committed to developing concrete solutions for real challenges in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

For Porto do Açu, BlueRio is already delivering tangible results, with the advancement of projects and the development of strategic partnerships. This reinforces a key point: innovation does not happen in isolation—it is born from dialogue, collaboration, and a shared purpose.

During the event, the projects developed, the lessons learned throughout the journey, and, most importantly, the connections built between the public sector, large companies, and startups were presented.

Another highlight was the announcement of BlueRio 3 by Secretary Bernardo Rossi, further expanding the connection between strategic challenges in the blue economy and innovative solutions from Brazil and around the world—an important step toward strengthening innovation applied to sustainability.

Beyond the results presented, the program reinforces the role of Rio de Janeiro as an increasingly relevant hub for innovation in the blue economy.

In practice, BlueRio reflects the impact of integrated action among institutions, led by Beta-i, the State Secretariat for Environment and Sustainability, and INEA, in partnership with Porto do Açu, Águas do Rio, CEDAE – State Water and Sewage Company, Vibra, Galp, Porto Sudeste, OceanPact Serviços Marítimos, the Municipality of Cabo Frio, CAERJ, the Boticário Group Foundation for Nature Protection (with the Viva Água Movement), and Wilson Sons.
